Restore Backup on new installation?

Hi
I al currently running HA on a raspi 3+ in the 32bit vwrsion, the recommended variant back many years ago.

I now want to switch to a raspi 5 and 64bit.

Can I still just restore my backup or do I need to set it up from scratch?

I moved from a pi3 to pi5 a few days ago using a backup. No issues.
Of course you still need to start downloading the HA image to the new pi5 booting drive (SSD recommend, not SD card), and then restore the backup.

I moved from RPi to “Generic x86-64” a couple of weeks ago and restored a backup.
Went very smoothly (I was impressed). Depending on what integrations you are using…

  • It may help to give the new machine has the same IP address as the old one.
  • If you were using an internal Bluetooth adapter, the restored backup in the new machine will detect the new one but continue to look for the old one. You can disable it in the Bluetooth integration page.
