Restore Progress

How do I determine from the HA CLI that a restore is finished? I use the restore snapshot after a fresh install but I don’t actually get any progress update so have to guess when to reboot which is causing all sorts of issues.

So I’ve now connected a keyboard and screen to my RPi but can’t figure out which commands to use in the HA CLI to determine that the restore is finished.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I usually just refresh the browser, when the update is not done, error will show. After the restore is finished, HA shows up again.

This clearly needs some work… It says “done” as soon as you enter the backup restore command and then you’re left guessing, without any indication at all.

That is the most terrible part of HA.
You sit there an wait…sometime you reload the page and hope that HA can be accessed… no indicator if the process is sill running. nothing. :confounded:

At least if you have your HA connected to a monitor and keyboard you can check with “ha logs” if it is something doing… it took about 25 min for me till the dashboard was reachable again.

I’ve been waiting hours for the UI to give some indication that the restore job was complete—or at least proceeding—until I typed ha jobs info and saw an error message that my backup was created with a newer version of the supervisor. That’s rather pathetic, and seeing that these previous posts are from almost two years ago doesn’t help.

Agreed @seanonymous - it’s horrible and the things I hate most about HA. I wish someone could spend some time fixing this and documenting a restore process that works. Every time my RPI needs resetting - I become religious and pray it works.
