Hi, this is my first question so I hope I am doing it right.
I am not a programmer but have produced a good working installation by watching YouTube and cribbing other peoples posted work. I am using a standard install on a Wyse Thin Client with a 240GbG SSD.
I had google Drive Backup running with daily backups but what I didn’t notice was that the backups had become enormous around 6Gb and my SSD filled up and HA stopped working. I had installed Frigate to record my security camera which was probably the problem as well as the backups.
I managed to access the backup archive on a Linux Mint Laptop and copy the contents of the Config folder back into a new install by setting up Samba share and have recovered a great deal of the system. I have also moved Backups & Media to my NAS to try and stop it happening again.
EXCEPT that: The History tab is missing, The Energy Dashboard is missing and probably many other things I haven’t spotted yet so I have obviously overwritten some basic configurations. I have put energy: & history: into config but they have not come back.
Can I restore these functions or is the system probably too damaged. How should I have copied the files back. Home assistant restore would not even look at the backup files. Thanks for any suggestions but not too geeky please as I am learning but at 75 not as well as I would have done a few years back.
I have no answer here but a tip…I am using Duplicati which does incremental backups and allows to set a max retrention too, this allows me to keep my max 15d backup on gdrive below 6Gb
EDIT: I am on docker so only backing up the presistent parts of mariadb, ha, and other containers I have.
On HAOS this may not work nicely
