Restoring snapshot on new install

Today I took a snapshot of my HA install, flashed a new SD card with OS 6.1 for my pi4 (rather than upgrade), and was going to restore that snapshot. When I get to the initial boot page and click “upload snapshot”, it gives me a dialog for uploading and then just drops me back to the chooser to upload a file. Logging into the console I don’t see anything in /mnt/data/supervisor/backup either (I thought potentially it uploaded and then you restored later in the wizard). What am I missing, I feel like I must be making this harder than it really is.

This also happened to me when I tried to restore from a snapshot with a fresh install. I can’t seem to find the post, but it is a bug. What you need to do is create a new user, login and install samba. Copy the snapshot file you want to restore too in the backup folder. Now do a restore.

Good idea - thanks. When I came back I noticed there was an OOM on the console - my guess is uploading the snapshot is done in memory rather than written out to disk and my 1.2GB snapshot is more than this container could handle. I’ll go this route - thanks!
