I’m considering adding a powered retractable awning over my deck. Looking for hardware recommendations which work well with HA. Zigbee preferred, WiFi OK, cloud dependency to be avoided. I’m in the US.
Anyone?
I have had one of these for a couple years now and so far it is working well. There is no direct connection via wifi/zigbee etc but it has a Nice brand motor which integrates well with a Bond Bridge. They even sell the Bond on their site as the automation solution but don’t buy it from them as it is overpriced.

It looks like that Bond Bridge is a kind of universal learning remote, is that correct? I know there are a number of these on the market. Is there any reason to choose this one over any other brand? Better still, is there any way to hardwire it to, say, a couple of relays or GPIO pins on an ESP board?
I also have a Broadlink which didn’t live up to my expectations. It doesn’t support my Hampton Bay ceiling fans which work on 303Mhz or more complex remotes like the Nice brand with rolling codes, but the Bond bridge covered all my use cases.
You may be able to wire and ESP device with ESPHome and some relays directly to the awning motor, but this may invalidate your warrenty.
