I am trying to trigger a door sensor from an outside gate - I am having trouble in getting a consistent result. If I take the sensor to the Bridge it works fine but from a distance its less reliable. Basically Is there a way to increase reliability?
You can solder a better antenna on it.
Thank you. That’s a great suggestion. Weird thing is the Bridge flashes as though it received message but nothing processes.
Is there any explanation of this - perhaps a Video. I’m struggling to find a “how to”. Thanks
what kind of RF Bridge are talking about? Sonoff RF bridge or a esp8266/32 + RF receiver? I had a similar problem and found that not all receivers are equal and had to buy a better one :-). Sonoff RF bridge worked fine.
Mine is the Sonoff one. It’s behind a window looking at the sensor (on a gate) which is around 20m away. Every time I look at the bridge it shows a red light conforming it got signal however there are other occasions (obviously when I’m not watching it) that I get no result measured. I can therefore only assume occasionally it doesn’t pick up signal. Thanks for advise.
After numerous attempts I believe it must be a distance issue. Therefore if theres a way of improving I would love to know.
Anyone?
Perhaps if not possible to extend the antenna, is it possible to mount outdoor in a weatherproof box?
If the led is flashing when the gate is opened have you logged into the sonoff bridge and looked at the console to see what it is receiving?
Does it receive the same code each time the gate opens, or is it getting corrupt / miss read?
No sorry I’m not clear. It seems not to actually receive at all (occasionally). I therefore have to move the unit nearly which means outdoors (not sure if these behave outdoor) OR find a way of improving the antenna.
It might be worth checking the battery on the door sensor. I bought a load of KERUI D026 RF Door/Window Sensor’s but found the batteries they came with were utter rubbish. They ether went flat after a few weeks or they expanded (swelled) and were a pain the remove from the holder!
I bought a pack of GP Batteries off Amazon and they have been reliable since.
Might be worth grabbing a Multi-meter and seeing if the voltage is close to what they are meant to be.
Thanks tried that already.
