RF Transceiver to obtain events from 433MHz alarm & sensors

Hi,

I bought a RF Transceiver from ebay as I read that this was necessary in order to gather events from alarm sensors that run on 433MHz band.

Model: Silabs CP2102 RF Transceiver

I managed to install drivers on my synology NAS, but I’m not able to go any further…

Do I need to program the dongle? how?
How do I integrate with RFLink on HA? I setup configuration in yaml file, but I’m unable to install integration… I can’t seem to do anything…

I don’t think your combination RFlink/RF transceiver will work.

The capability of receiving your alarm sensors codes depends on their models versus the receiver used. So as to choose the appropriate decoder the first thing to share is your sensors model.

They work on 433MHz,therefore I thought any RF transceiver would do the trick if the software I use was able to decode signals…

The RFLink integration requires an RFLink gateway to receive and send signals to devices. It can’t work without a gateway running the RFLink firmware.

Thats the point. That software could be the RFLink firmware (in a RFLink gateway) or any other that you would capable of running in your NAS, but that software need to decode and speak the ‘HA language’, thats what HA integrations do.

Unfortunately the RFLink integration is only able to talk to the RFLink firmware and I don’t know if there is any integration that can speak directly with your RF transceiver.

Unfortunately not. “433mhz” is just the frequency, behind this you have numerous kind of protocols that may or may not be supported by your receiver/firmware.

There is several ways to verify their support:

  • check the model versus the firmware compatible list (RFLink, Pilight, RTL_433, RCSwitch) on google
  • open the device to identify the chipset and google it by adding Arduino or Raspberry Pi
  • Buy an ESP or Arduino Mega with an RF receiver and test RCswitch ReceiveDemo example on it or RFlink
  • Test RTL_433 or Pilight on a Pi with your devices
  • Decode your device protocol and integrate it to existing firmware (advanced)

I managed to easily recover the chipset of my motion sensor (HS2241PT).
I’m just starting to google additional info about it… I don’t have all the knowledge around this topic yet so it may take a while for me to get a hang of it :wink:

some additional info I can provide if i can help to provide me with some additional recommendations:

Motion sensor chip: HS2241PT
Door sensor chip: CS113

RF Transceiver chip: ATMel MEGA48PA
RF Transceiver RF module: CC1101
RF Transceiver Serial: CP2102 (over USB)

In the meantime I bougth a RBX6 that I properly connected to my NodeMCU board. I put MQTT43Gateway on it.
I receive raw values in my web console, but nothing on my MQTT. But that is not the issue for now…

When I open a door or make a motion, I do not see meaningful input in the logs…
During door opening some entries seems to repeat, but they are not decoded so I’m not sure what they mean. In addition, those signals don’t continue but stop after x iterations. and I don’t see such repetitions when I close the door… So I see signals, but I’m not many steps further yet :frowning:

So as to help you troubleshooting, could you post what you you get from the serial monitor when opening the door ?

What model of door sensor do you use ? Not all are advertizing close signal.

I’m puutting 2 log outputs…
The first is with the data from RBX6 directly connected on PIN D7 (configured that way).
The second log output is with a diode (LED currently) in between (and pinpullup).

Here I used a door first a couple time, then a motion sensor and another door.
There is one additional entry (other value), which may be another motion sensor (no sure here, need to dig into the codes)

So with OpenMQTT Ihave some entries, but there is no data… only some values…

RF gateway will give you only values, if you want a json with more “human compatible” information you may try Pilight gateway.

Nevertheless, as you are able to read your sensors with RF gateway I would stick with it.

Now if you isolate the value you should be able to create the sensors into HASS
