RFLink with RXB6 - very bad reception

Hi everyone,

I’ve made a RFLink using arduino Mega2560, and RXB6 for 433Mhz reception.
I’m able to receive signals (remote switch, temp sensors…), it is working well with HA.

My problem is the reception of the signals, it works only at less than 2 meters…

I’ve optimized the wiring using a real antenna, and capacitors as we can find on the web, but no effect my reception is still the same.
I’ve also replace the RXB6, no effect.
I’ve added an external power supply to aduino (not only through USB) still the same.

(For my test the RFLink is no longer connected to my RPI with HA, but directly on a windows computer with RFlink loader.)

=> Does anyone know what the performance is supposed to be ? I understood 50-75m…
=> Any idea what the problem can be ?

Are your antenna optimized for 433MHz?

I’ve tried with and without additional antenna, no change.

for my antenna yes it was mentionned for 433MHZ https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B081JN9W9K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Those connectors comes in two versions and if you mix them, then you can accidentally connect two female connectors, so make sure that one of your connectors have the center pin.

I’ve checked it is correct, female embase and male for the antenna

But anyway without the antenna I understood the perfomance shall already be good.
It makes me think it is not link to the antenna…

On the RXB6 there is a sall writting : 13.52127. No idea what is means but on pictures on the web I’ve seen other numbers… do you know what it means ?

I’m really thinking all RXB6 I’ve had with the mark 13,… means they are not 433Mhz as expected.
I’m trying one last command to get other RXB6 where I can read the correct marking on the picture of the dealer web page…

It could be noise so try moving it around and I also just saw your pic and it looks like you have an extended path on the breadboard before getting to the antenna connector.
This extended path is unshielded and untwisted, so it is really receptive to noise.
If you can then avoid using breadboard in the antenna connection path at all.

I’ve received today new RXB6 sensors.
Some with 13… on it, and some with 433 on it ! Finaly

It took me 4 commands to get the right one…

and now… it works… :grinning:

Great to hear!

what about the distance from the receiver to the transmitter ?
