Hi, first post here!
English is not my native language, so I apologize for any mistakes.
I have some smart light bulbs at home, all connected to Home Assistant. My 2-year-old loves when I show him the RGB color wheel on my phone—he enjoys moving his finger around and watching the light bulbs change color.
I want to create a physical RGB color wheel. My idea is to print a color wheel on paper, laminate it, and mount it on a wooden board. Then, I’d like him to be able to point to a color on the wheel (touching the wheel with an object), and a sensor (or multiple sensors) behind it would detect the selected color and send that info to Home Assistant (I’m thinking Zigbee for lower latency).
I’m not sure what kind of sensor would work for this. Maybe some kind of magnetic sensor? The idea is for it to detect which part of the wheel he’s pointing to—distance-based, maybe?
It doesn’t have to detect exact colors. It’s fine if it maps to discrete options—so if he points to a green-ish section, the light just turns a predefined green.
I think this could be a fun way for him to learn about colors and get curious about how things work.
Thanks in advance!
