RGB Yeelight not available (other one is)

Hey guys,

I’m having an issue with one of my Yeelights. It becomes unavailable, and have no idea what’s wrong. LAN control is enabled, another Yeelight is working flawless and I re-IP’d from the router (fixed IP). A wireless repeater is about 1 meter away (initially thought it was wifi issues). It does show a high ping though…

Any advice appreciated.

Yeelight, repeater and HA is not a good combination. The repeater might be the problem, did you try without?

Can’t really try without. I only use repeaters in my house since the router is in a cabinet and has very limited range. The other Yeelight works fine with the a similar repeater (Fritzbox 1750).

P.S. All repeaters are hardwired.

Ok, just asking the obvious; did you upgrade the firmware, is it the same as the other one which is working? Any messages in the log?

Asking the even more obvious, have you tried just turning the power on and off?

On @sjee’s point, if you upgrade the firmware you need to turn local control back on again each time.

Hey guys,

Here’s what I did:

  • Power off / on multiple times
  • Removed and re-added to Yeelight app (it’s controllable from the app without issues) and enabled LAN control
  • Gave new IP
  • Put next to repeater
  • Removed and re-added to Hass

So, yeah I guess the basic trouble shooting was performed

You didn’t didn’t mention local control though which implies maybe not

How are the repeaters configured?

Only asking because I had a nightmare time with a Fritz 7590 and a 7340 as a repeater when I used mesh mode… I think there might have been issues with the beta firmware on the 7590 as I was having a lot of wifi problems.

In the end, I set the repeater (hardwired) to a different SSID and that was the end of my problems (as well as new beta firmware I suspect). My thought was some devices were getting confused and connecting to the access point that was further away or connecting/disconnecting etc… using a different SSID worked so much better…

I’m also using discovery for the yeelights and that works fine as well.

What do you mean? It’s right there ;)…

Just kidding. Did an edit

I was suspecting this as well, but I don’t use mesh mode (yet) and I confirmed it’s connecting to the correct (closest) access point.

Potentially looked like a network issue after all. Had to reboot my router for some unrelated issues and since the reboot it works like a charm.
