Rheem EcoNet Flakey

My HA instance includes the EcoNet integration for monitoring and controlling a Rheem electric water heater. Lately I have been regularly using the integration for changing the mode of operation, i.e. Eco/Performance and the temperature setting. That was working appropriately but recently I suspected that it sometimes was not working based on the actual water temperature available. Further investigation showed that despite the integration giving the impression that there was actual confirmation that the settings were changing, it was not. The integration for instance changes the temperature setting text to red when changing it then after a short delay once the setting is no longer changing, the text reverts to black. I took this to mean that the integration was confirming the setting change but that is not the case. By using the Rheem EcoNet app I was able to confirm whether or not the settings changes were actually being set at the water heater. When the mode or temperature setting is failing, the ability to enact like changes from the EcoNet app also do not work. The water heater has an add on Rheem/EcoNet wifi module and the indicators showed that wifi was active but the ‘cloud’ indicator was off. By unplugging the module cable the interface rebooted and reestablished the wifi and cloud connection.
Now I find that having the cloud indicator illuminated is not a reliable indicator that all is well. Reloading the HA EcoNet integration caused the EcoNet app to indicate ‘disconnected.’ Logging out and in did not seem to produce any change in that status. The status remained ‘disconnected’ for at least 15-20 minutes then magically reconnected and the HA settings were then reflected at both the water heater display and the EcoNet app.
I suspect all of this is a problem with the EcoNet cloud.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems with the EcoNet integration/EcoNet cloud?
