Rialto wifi thermostat

Hi, I am wondering whether anyone has come across the Rialto WiFi thermostat?

https://www.rialtocomfort.com/en/rialto-thermo-kit/

It appears to be based on a proprietary Zigbee gateway, which is connected to the home router via blue cable. Thermostats run on AA batteries, can operate a simple on/off heat control and connect back to the gateway by Zigbee. I am contemplating using for a new hydronic radiator system.

Looks like a great integration project for HA!

Rialto also do clamp current sensors and smart switches, which can also run off the same gateway.

Any experience would be great.

Thanks - Nick

Gā€™day Mate,
Iā€™ve been investigating this as we are having a hydronic heating system installed soon.

The only plausible information ive been able to find is the below link;

Note that the Rialto thermostat appears to be a zigbee device, perhaps rebranded?

If you have a ZHA or Deconz setup on your home assistant, id think you could rid yourself of the Rialto Hub (Glorified locked down Zigbee Hub by appearance) and pair the thermostat directly with your home assistant zigbee gateway. The link above indicates that it ā€˜shouldā€™ work. Iā€™m keen to know the result as i think this is the thermostat i have settled on, with the given options from the installer.

Good Luck and please hit us back with a result :smile:

Some other information i have found on the SMaBiT unit, let me know if you think its the same unitā€¦

Hey @beccsjb. Iā€™m not much help with this device, Iā€™m sorry. In the end, we went with a HeatMiser NeoStat. If you buy a NeoHub, you can integrate with HomeAssistant using the custom Heatmiser Neo Integration, available through HACS. It works really well.

One tip: we made a mistake with thermostat placement - one of our thermostats was installed on a wall which has hydronic pipes inside it. This seems to cause a small amount of feedback - as the hot water flows through the pipes, it warms the thermostat and the heating turns off prematurely. Because the thermostats are physically wired in, itā€™s very difficult to move. So in the end, I bought a Heatmiser Wireless Air Sensor, which can be integrated with the neoHub to provide an alternative temperature reading for that circuit. Works perfectly.

(edit) I should add: the Heatmiser gear works on Zigbee, but I donā€™t have any other Zigbee gear in the house. So I have no idea whether its possible to use ZHA / Deconz with Heatmiser to avoid having to buy a neoHub (which is not cheap).

Old thread, but thought Iā€™d answer: no, the implementation of Zigbee-like protocol the Heatmiser thermostats use (and compatible - there are at least a couple other brands that work in the same system), arenā€™t true Zigbee; at least, they donā€™t work with other Zigbee devices or hubs/integrations. You need their own hub, but note that 1. the rebranded hubs should also work, 2. they seem to be popular enough sold used.

That info might be useful if special deals come up on the other hubs, or when searching used marketplaces like ebay (thereā€™s an original hub, btw, and a ā€œgeneration 2ā€ g2/ version 2 as it gets called, which is notably better as I understand it but no experience of the initial one). Currently 2nd-hand (used) neohub g2ā€™s seem to sell for about Ā£50-80 on ebay in the UK though quite often sold in a group with thermostats and/or controller, or neoplugs (which can help boost the network if your stats donā€™t have the range to talk to the hub).
