Ring wireless camera access?

I am trying to piece together a solution to access the wireless Ring camera I purchased, after I realised that having a Ring subscription for your video doorbell doesn’t entitle you to use a camera you’ve just purchased on the same account. I also own the Ring Alarm system I use for self monitoring, which I felt $50 was a reasonable cost per year for everything, until I read the fine print. I’m looking for a solution I can use within Home Assistant for this camera that I own.

I’ve read instructions to do it via npm or npx commands in terminal, accessing the token Ring needs to pass video along. Unfortunately I haven’t any idea how to install this with Homeassistant to get the ball rolling. Or is npm something I can install on the base Ubuntu operating system to get access to my token. Anyhow with ring-hassio it looks like it would work if it can be pieced together.

If not, I am certainly I am open to other workarounds to save a photo capture when armed etc, for what is a fancy $100 motion sensor at this point for my alarm system. I have Blink cameras and they work perfectly fine in Home Assistant. I should have stuck with them I guess. Thanks.

This is probably your best solution, it has its limitations but only due to those on the side of Ring.

Defo worth a look though:

HA not start or

I went through several vendors doorbell the settled with armcrest and frigate with automation to notify me vs person ring bell

This said, recently I saw my ring doorbell on the floor of workroom/homeland and thought maybe I put it out to use as doorbell and see again if it’s worth the effort

All this noise to say, if you still habe the blinks maybe stick one covering same are as ring doorbell and use that for snapshot and record.

Thank you for the link. This worked really great, I can see my cameras now, as well as the Alarm system etc. I had some issue getting the RTSP address to resolve for live view, but the snapshots are working. Creating a script to have the Ring camera capture a photo. I’ll add that to an automation when the motion sensor is tripped. Bonus, I can now disarm or arm the security from Home Assistant, and maybe from HomeKit as it has appeared there as well.
