Risk updating 19 month old hassio core

problem
I cannot make backups , the supervisor log shows [supervisor.jobs] 'ResolutionFixup.run_autofix' blocked from execution, system is not healthy - privileged

status:

  1. You are running an unsupported installation
  2. Your installation is unhealthy → Supervisor is not privileged
  3. core-2021.5.5
  4. supervisor-2022.11.2
  5. docker 20.10.22
  6. ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS (Focal Fossa)

from reading i think the solution is to update the core

question
is it safe to update the core as i cannot make backups (at least not from the ui…) . as my lighting depends on hass, I do not want to break it… THANKS!
