Need to get some of that and just wondering what you guys use here that can integrate with HASSIO?
Ofc I already did that, I am looking for tried and tested solutions that work well
Lutron Sivoia QS Triathlon roller shades, Lutron Caseta Pro Hub 2, Lutron custom component for local control over telnet, HomeKit for “Hey Siri” integration. That’s what I use and it’s tried and true. Also costs a small fortune, but works and more importantly still allows local control through a Pico remote in case HA is down or my mother-in-law comes to visit.
Yeah, I was going to say “it depends what you want to pay”
I have basic, nothing fancy electric blinds in my apartment. They are not smart. They can be controlled by a switch on the wall (up/down/stop). I bought an Aeon Z-wave USB stick for HA install and got Fibaro Roller Shutter controllers which I installed in the wall behind the blind switches. It works perfectly. The stick is around $50 and the Fibaro module was ~$65 per piece.
how do you set limits ?
The Fibaro relay does an automatic calibration upon setup to determine the fully closed and fully open positions. After that I can set the blind to any position between 0-100% with the set cover position
command.
But it can’t see when it’s open or shut so I assume it will look for the motor stalling at each end (rise in current).
With an ordinary roller blind you may get this at one end, not the other
Maybe the same is true of other types, venetian, roman etc.
Just curious is all
I can only guess, I am not an expert in this. There is a wiring diagram how to connect the Fibaro relay wires if you have roller blinds, venetian blinds, gates or blinds with limit switches. My blind motor stops automatically when I use the wall switch if it is fully open or closed even if the wall switch stays in close or open position. So I guess there is a sensor in the tube motor. During the Fibaro calibration it detects when the blind stops and consider it as the limit. As it is accurately measuring the power consumption as well (visible in HA), I guess it is detecting the limits by measuring the current drain as you said. I used this Fibaro Roller Shutter with many types of blinds, cheap and expensive. Never had problem.
Thanks for the feedback.
That’s a very strong endorsement in my book
Cheers
Ok so once I get a blind with an electric motor something like this will do the trick: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000241037954.html?algo_pvid=36bcdd2a-fbcb-4d67-8804-62e8645b6bdd&algo_expid=36bcdd2a-fbcb-4d67-8804-62e8645b6bdd-0&btsid=2c560e9b-35fc-46b3-bec2-27e4cedb0c42&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_3,searchweb201603_55
There is working tuya integration with HA so it should work
Probably yes, but it’s different protocol. Looks very similar to the Fibaro except this is WiFi and the Fibaro is z-wave. For this one you don’t need any USB stick or hub.
Make sure it fits where you want to hide it. The Fibaro is small enough to be placed beyond a wall switch keeping the wall switch fuctioning as well, if the depth is 55-65mm or deeper. This one looks big.
