Rotary encoder controlled light-how to control other light?

Its also the preferred way to do automations that deal with Esphome devices because, when you seperate the logic/automations so that the entities are on the esp device and logic is in HA, then you’ve unnecessarily made that esp device and logic dependent on the HA server when that only adds reliability issues because Esphome was made to work either with HA or it can run 100% independent of HA and when HA ever goes down then you dont lose the ability to control those entities or interfere with any automations stored on it… Esphome is more than capable of letting users create complex automations that can rival HA automations for many of an individuals needs so, nope… Not weird at all IMO.

You are absolutely right and I’m completely wrong. But until you gave me working solution I will stick to HA automation.
So far I have a working solution and that conclude my post.
This forum is not a place for this kind of discussions so please don’t reply anymore. Furthermore, I ask admins to lock this thread or delete it.

What kind of discussions? Can you show me where it sais that in the forum rules?

“So far” is a good way of saying that when you choose to reduce reliability like you did here…

Well, untill you post your whole configuration like people asked you to do, multiple times then thats kind of difficult for me or anybody to do… People have have given you examples that are 95% complete and you wont use them or you wont or you refuse to look at the documentation where it explains this to you. Also, this is a “Help” forum where people help each other. I think you’re confusing it with a “free code on-demand” forum where you just tell people what you want and they go make it for you as if they work for free here… Is this your first time using the internet??
