I have a Yellow, using Z2M, sky connect for Thread.
I have a Vodafone connection with an ultra hub and 3 WiFi extenders.
I have split out compatibility mode so I have a 2.4&5ghz network.
I have no more access to separate out a 2.4ghz only network.
I have no control over which channel the router or the WiFi extenders run on - when I checked with Vodafone, they are seemingly every channel except 1, 6 and 11.
I have had a nightmare trying to get a Drayton Wiser HubR connected - spent hours fiddling with Wiser and Vodafone support and it eventually connected to my 2.4&5ghx network. Great signal. Then after a couple of days it has now dropped off and won’t go back on.
Connects fine to my phone hotspot.
This is kind of the last straw… yes the wiser HubR might have some crap connectivity, but having so little control over my WiFi network is, in my mind, probably causing this - if I could split a 2.4ghz network it would prob be fine. And as I grow my zigbee and thread networks I want to be able to ensure that there is no interference from overlapping channel interference.
So I think my option is to get a WiFi router I can control myself, a wireless AP for one location and a couple of WiFi mesh extenders for 2 locations I cannot get Ethernet to.
Ideally all same brand.
I don’t mind spending a fair amount of money to get decent reliable equipment. Any recommendations?
In the interim, any idea what the problem with the wiser HubR is or how to get it to connect and stay connected?
- Edit: may have got the HubR to reconnect - I enabled the guest network on the router - now the HubR will connect to the normal 2.4&5ghz compatibility mode network. I had enabled it as a troubleshooting option when previously trying to get it to connect but then successfully connected it to the compatibility mode network. Yesterday disabled the guest network - today noticed the hub had fallen off the compatibility network. No idea why enabling the guest network should allow the hub to connect to a different network…?
