RPi Terminal Window Access via HA

Hi Folks; newbie here, so be gentle

I have installed a RPi4 with HA last week. It is in a remote observatory, so my access is from several hundred miles away ATM. I need to access the RPi terminal screen to install RPi Connect (I failed to do that during initial configuration). Is there a way to do that through HA? I have remote access to the computer at my remote location which is on the same network as the RPi, so I can access the local instance of HA no problem. Please help! It will save me a 4 hour drive…

Did you install Home Assistant OS or some other method? How you have it all installed matters here.

Install Advanced SSH & Web Terminal add-on

Yes, I installed HA OS.

Then @Vlads recommendation is the correct one. It works very well, I would hate not having that installed on mine!

Have you considered getting the Nabu Casa cloud subscription? Pretty cheap and gives you remote access without the SSH.

Are the Advanced SSH & Web Terminal add-ons available within HA? Sorry…I’m at work ATM and don’t have remote access to my remote PC. But I can try it this evening.

Yes, Settings → Add-ons.

If you don’t see it you can click on your avatar in the lower left and enable advanced settings:

Thanks, folks, I appreciate the guidance and I’ll report back once I can try this. I always like to close threads with a final solution.

That’s a term I stopped using (and I used to use it a lot) when I got to thinking about what it once meant. :joy:

SOLVED

I had a chance to drop by the house for lunch. Remote Desktop’d into my remote PC, opened the local HA browser access, Installed Advanced SSH & Web Terminal add-on, configured the ID and Password, and I am up. I now have terminal access!

Thanks again to the community and I am pleased that I joined the group.
