RPi with RootFS on SSD/HDD - loses access to USB device

Continuing the discussion from It's Dead, I have lost the lot:

Now booting of SD card but Root on USB HD drive. No fatal errors since but I am finding that HA goes non-responsive every few days and I need to power recycle the Pi.

Thank goodness. Someone else with the same problem but a different setup.

I have exactly this issue. System runs fine then simply stops after a while. I have determined that the kernel seems to lose connection with the USB drive so because it cannot find the rootfs, it cannot execute any command. I though it was a Pi4 issue but perhaps not.

@Gerald_Marsh, what is your setup? I am on an RPi4 4GB + WD PiDrive. I have tried it with an SSD with the same symptoms. Base OS is DietPi. Do you run the supervisor and AppDaemon?
