Two times my SD card crapped out while doing an system upgrade! First a Samsung, second a kingston both good cards using them in my Mediaplayer too no problems but in HASS they get corrupted, real fast.
What power supply are you using?
Original raspberry 2.5A power supply.
Just found this today? I’m surprised no one brought it up is there a downside to booting from the USB?

Got new adapter for RPi from canakit and sandisk pendrive. The HA is up and running fingers crossed 
I use a SanDisk Ultra Fit - USB flash drive - 32 GB USB3.0 stick. Quite fast and reliable. In combination with Hassbian it’s works really well. I would like to try in combination with Hass.io. But can’t get ResinOS to boot from USB.
USB is no problem.
Network boot is also an option. Starts up with SD card but I don’t believe there is write-to-sd during this start so no real reason why that card should fail
