RTSP bad image quality

Dear all,

i have some cameras set up in my hassio configuration like this:

#Cameras
ffmpeg:
  ffmpeg_bin: /usr/bin/ffmpeg
camera:
  - platform: ffmpeg
    input: rtsp://192.168.8.102/unicast
    name: CAM_0_RTSP

When i go to the camera page, I see all the cameras, but very very often I see an image like this:

the first part of image is ok, and the second part seems like strips.
Can someone suggest me how to improve the image quality or how to solve this problem?

Seems either network issue or performance of your host running ffmpeg

All the hassio and ffmpeg is running on raspberry pi 3 b+.

That’s the problem…rtsp and ffmpeg on pi …not that performance strong

Oooookkk, so the raspberry is not enought strong.
I’am building a new house all domotic with all light with sonoff relay, alarm, cameras and automation. So I thing the raspberry is not enought, or is not safe stable for all this device. Maybe I have to use a old pc or old server to run HA. With ubuntu or maybe virtual enviroment in FreeNAS. It’s possible?

That’s possible yeah …I also had issues with RPI answer WENT for an Intel NUC with i3 and 8GB RAM. now so performance issue anymore

What operating system you use in the NUC?

Ubuntu 18witu venv

Old PC may be enough

Look at passmark score for CPU >2000 is enough
Same spec as Plex server recommendation. You may get the tearing image due to poor networkperformane of camera also so consider that

Also, your cameras may provide camera jpeg through direct link. You can use that and avoid performance issue on RasPi

Ubuntu server true? Or normal desktop version?

Both will work but use server if No Screen (headless)

I wanna be sure consuming the less energy possible with my system…that’s why I chose Intel nuc
