I have a Minix NEO U1 that I originally bought to use as a mediaplayer, but I quite soon found out that “normal” Android on a TV-interface is borderline useless. So it’s just sitting in a drawer unused for now.
I thought I was going to try to run Hass.io on it. It runs OpenELEC as an alternative to Android, so why not Hass.io.
What resources should I go to to try to port Hass.io to this unit? I know I could just install OpenELEC and run HA on it that way. But where is the fun in that?
Some specs:
- Amlogic S905 SoC
- Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU (64-bit) @ 2.0GHz
- Penta-Core Mali-450 GPU
- 2GB DDR3 RAM
- 16GB (eMMC 5.0) Storage
- WiFi 802.11ac 2 X 2 MIMO Dual-Band
- RJ-45 GIGABIT Ethernet
- Bluetooth 4.1
- HDMI 2.0, up to 4K @ 60Hz Supports HDMI-CEC
- USB 2.0 port x 3, OTG port x 1 Kensington lock ready
- MicroSD Card Reader (256GB Max)
- Dimensions: 128mm (l) x 128mm (w) x 20mm (h)
I’m not sure if it’s possible to get it to boot from SD. The OpenELEC alternative I think boots from USB.
