I had this working for awhile and then after some update (can’t remember), it stop working.
The logs are
[21-12-15 19:25:14] INFO: ---------------------------------------------------
[21-12-15 19:25:16] INFO: Samba Backup started successfully
[21-12-16 09:30:26] INFO: Backup running …
[21-12-16 09:30:27] INFO: Creating backup “Partial Backup 2021-12-16 09:30”
parse error: Invalid numeric literal at line 1, column 5
I tried to update it, and uninstall and reconfig…but all didn’t work. Somehow, it thinks that my configuration is in error. However, the line 1 is just IP address.

If it is the same add-on as the link above, it works without a problem even after the latest HA update.

Yet there seems you haven’t posted an issue in github.
I am unable to reproduce.

Is there a chance for a hint with API?
For others finding this thread, this has been a known and reported issue on Github for more than 2 years now:

Hey guys,
Previously, this was running perfect. I noticed the reserved stora… ge on the NAS was full, so i expended it to allow more backups. When the backup is started now, it will be created, but not transferred to the NAS. This also results in more local backups then specified in the configuration. I trigger a script to start the backups. The logs show backup succesfull.
Each backup is about 2GB, and takes 3 hours to create

I just noticed my backups are missing on SMB share for few days. I checked log a… nd I am getting `parse error: Invalid numeric literal at line 1, column 5` exactly after 3 hours since backup was started. Previous successful uploaded backups were completed in 2:40h, 2:44h, 2:45h, 2:50h etc.
I have now few local backup which lasted for long than 3h and all of them were not copied over SMB. Looks like timeout to me.
More people seems to have it:

Manual backup did well
Auto backup started at defined timw 1:30, at this same time it reported error but in category `INFO`
`[23-05-16 01:30:13] INFO: Creating backup "Partial Backup 2023-05-16 01:30 (HA 2023.5.3)"
parse error: Invalid numeric literal at line 1, column 5`
Then he was running the backup and reported finished exactly 3 hours later
`[23-05-16 04:30:24] INFO: Backup finished`
(should be about 10GB)
Finished but there is no backup file in shared location.

enhancement
Currently the Home Assistant CLI is used to create backups, get the list of inst… alled addons, cleanup backups, etc.
Replace the CLI with direct API calls --> https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/api/supervisor/endpoints
This should overcome the 3 hours timeout issue that some users are facing at the moment and solve #65.
