Every-day end-users (like us) can apply to host one of their ‘white-boxes’ so that they can aggregate data across as many global ISPs about internet performance. SamKnows is now owned by Cisco.
It’s essentially like a speedtest.net type thing except rather than just major hosters hosting the ping nodes, end-users can. They provide a Dashboard for a hoster to see their device’s/internet connection’s performance stats.
I had one of these boxes for a while. Never integrated it into HA. In fact I had to stop using it as HA would use just enough external data that it could never pick a “quiet” time to run its tests.
