I bought one but it’s still in the box.
It arrived and looks legit, all I can say right now.

funny. I did same(bought and left in box) and ultimately deemed it not worth my time as it wouldnt scale, as in, i need at least 8 voice devices and at $79USD + need to get a chassis these are too much.

I bought 6 of these to go with my 3 HAvoice and a few m5echos.

Yes. Works well.

M5 atom echo. Don’t buy. Audio is low and you can’t really put them anywhere because of form

Waveshare device has audio about equal to 1st gen Alexa. They are good for the money and quickly get you voice in home if your like me and decided to replace all Alexa devices

HAVPE. Better audio. Better look. But price. I still feel there is obligation to buy some for support of their work.

Satellite 1. I don’t use for voice. Pretty pricey for esp to amp for music. I think my original goal was to get PWB replacement board to repurpose the Alexa’s I owned but since I gave them away there is no longer a point. It’s easier to buy a fully functional device or grab a conference speaker/mic and build diy unit

Thanks for the insight, which Waveshare device are you referring, I see there are different models all touting to be good for homeassistant but some need to be assembled and coded
I want to be able to replace my Google devices which are good but no privacy

ESP32-S3-AUDIO-Board

They arent great but good enough to throw around several rooms for announcements. Audio is meh but it gets the job done for $20USD

If you want good audio buy good amp/speaker/powered speaker and connect to esp
