We have HA installed in our boat which is very much like an RV install. But one of the data items we have is sea temperature coming from our speed and depth transducer which is integrated from our NMEA2000 marine sensor network.
It is constantly sensing sea temps and we love to swim, but only where the water is warmer. Here in the Pacific North West there can be a 10 degree variation in sea temp in only a few miles.
So it would be great to be able to track where of our favorite anchorages have the warmest waters. I have already setup an auto updating location automation, but don’t know where to begin to plot this with sea temperature date.
Just a thought: How about saving the temperature in the <name> field on a waypoint record in a GPX file? Then you could upload it into any charting app or even your chartplotter. For example:
The above can be imported into OpenCPN and it shows as a waypoint with an “i” icon and the temperature underneath. Unfortunately the GPX standards are pretty loose, so you might have to fiddle around with the various fields to get something which looks good in whatever charting app or device you’re using.
