Scene contains other Scenes

I am in the progress of setting up Scenes in my Home Assistant setup and i realized the lack of having a scene in another scene is leading to a lot of duplicated code.

For example i have the following subset of scenes.

  • Home (Turns on all lights)
  • Good night (Turns of all lights)
  • Movie (Turn of all lights in living room, hallway and kitchen)

That means that Good night scene and Movie scene actually defines the same entities and is there for duplicated.
What i would like is something like this

  • Turn on Bedroom

  • Turn on Living room

  • Turn on kitchen

  • Turn on Hallway

  • Turn off Bedroom

  • Turn off Living room

  • Turn off Kitchen

  • Turn off Hallway

  • Home (Calls Turn on Bedroom, Living room, Kitchen, Hallway)

  • Good Night (Calls Turn off Bedroom, Living room, Kitchen, Hallway)

  • Movie (Calls Living room, Kitchen, Hallway)

If i in the future later adds a light to a room. I only have to update that rooms on & off scene.
This also gives me a lot better options to reuse and tweak without having scenes out of sync.

I noticed this were actually supported before
# Turning on scenes from within a scene no longer works #28991

I would later like to add more scenes, like

  • Morning (Turns on everything except bedroom)
  • Evening (Turns on all lights, except at 21:00 turns of bedroom)

The benefits of having smaller scens and including them in a bigger. Also makes it easier to change how we want to our light to look. Lets say i want the bedroom light to be a bit brighter. I just have to update the Turn on Bedroom scene. And now everything will be brighter.
