Hi All, last night I noticed that my addons (InfluxDB, SSL, etc) weren’t working anymore. When I checked the HASS UI all the normal features and automations still worked fine but when I checked the Hassio page it wouldn’t load. The services page within HASS also didn’t load anymore. This means I also didn’t have a way of rebooting my Raspberry PI so the only option I had was to pull the power. Unfortunately the Pi didn’t boot up. There was no network connection, no video out, nothing.
I was able to recover my configuration files after plugging the SD card to my PC card reader and re-installed a fresh image on the SD card. The Pi booted fine after this.
So, my question is: Is my SD card broken and can I expect this to happen again or did Hass(io) corrupt something?
So you couldn’t ssh in after rebooting? If so that sounds a lot like what happened to my hass.io install a few weeks back. Everything went dark, couldn’t ssh in or samba in, rebooting the pi did nothing. I reinstalled and dropped my backup config in and everything has been fine since. This was on a new SD card, my guess is hass.io had a meltdown. Not sure why, thankfully the reinstall is easy peasy nowadays. Just keep an up to date backup…
Yes that’s right, I couldn’t connect anymore in any way.
I must add to that my later issues of it not booting at all anymore might have been because I had connected the Pi to a bad power source after taking it from it’s permanent location to my work desk…
anyway I have a new SD card and are putting back the configuration files that I was able to recover now. I’ll make sure to have more frequent SD card backups so I don’t have to re-install next time.
Bummer. Yeah ever since that day (when it went down I was about 1 hour of work behind on my backup) I backup ALL the time. Ain’t gonna get me like that again.
