SDM630 Modbus V2 monitoring - Complete beginner

Hello all,

I’ve just installed my first instance of home assistant, currently I have a air source heat pump for heating and hot water, currently the heating and water schedules are managed by my Hive system. Which I have added to HA and is working well.

However between the main fuse board and the heat pump I have a SDM630-Modbus V2, which I would like to be able to pull the readings from to see exactly how much energy the ASHP is using. So I can add it to my Energy Distribution Card.

I’m a complete beginner when it comes to this, I’ve looked online and I see I need to get an RS485 converter, how easy are these to install?

Should I get an electrican to install this device. The location of the SDM630 is shown below, is there any RS485 modules I could get to install next to it, to make a cleaner install than wires coming out of the box to a Pi/ESP32?
