Second or multiple Z-wave Dongle(s)

I have understood that Z-wave comes in different flavors organized by region. I.o.w USA, EU and Japan. I also know that there are ways to add extra Z-wave networks to home assistant by making use of multiple dongles (gateways) yet this is only for the really savvy Home assistant users amoungst us. I was wondering if the savvy and more apt Home Assistant users would find it in their hearts to make the Z-wave integration so that there would be an option to add extra Dongles. This way the not so savvy and more average or below average users would have the oppotunity to add these dongels as well.

Thank you.

Already can

Zwavejsmqtt is docker container. Run a separate container for each dongle. Add each as seperate integration in HA

Ah yes, sorry forgot to mention running HA “supervised” would that be possible too?

I kinda thought you may be talking about this

What is use case for this? If dongle is attached to same server why not just add in same network? Every case I see with multiple zwavejs dongle is remote location that is too far to connect device to same network. If this is case supervised don’t matter and it is possible without difficulty.

for me, it would be migration. I want to move from one stick to another and having two networks up at the same time would allow me to slowly migrate. I’ve not found another way to run them concurrently so I can start removing devices from one network as I add them to another. With 75 ZHA devices, I’m afraid of doing it all at once. If there’s another way to migrate from one stick to another, please let me know

If same stick you may be able to copy over network

If different I was told you can add as secondary then use “controller shift” . Never tried so not sure if this works in HA

Hi There

First off sorry for my extremely late reply in a topic that I started :unamused: :innocent:

For the use case is that I have some devices working on the US Dongle and some I’d like to use on the EU dongle.

You need to add the zwavejs addon twice. I dint think that is possible.

You can add the stand-alone zwavejs2mqtt (or whatever it’s called now) to your system and then use that for the second dongle.

then just add a second zwavejs integration pointing to the second add-on.
