I’m trying to figure out how to get my level bolt smart lock into my HA and I thought it was the only device I can’t connect.
Then I remembered I have this secretlabs x Nanoleaf led strip that has a thread network and integrates into my HomeKit and even Alexa networks.
However, home assistant doesn’t recognize it (it’s not a mentioned supported device from the Nanoleaf integration) and I’m trying to find other ways to force it in.
I tried connecting a HomeKit bridge controller but it’s not recognized there either which I guess isn’t surprising but I thought perhaps if it’s integrated with HomeKit I can use it to connect to HA (same issue with level lock I guess)
Has anyone has success in connecting a thread network device or more specifically a secretlabs magrgb strip?
appreciate that… seems like no one has this in their instance… just a horribly unreliable light… need to redo my automations at least once a quarter or more.
you have to start the setup in homekit, but before formally adding it to your homekit, it should be recognized in by your home assistant, then you could add it.
So, one big piece of information that would have been useful that I finally found somewhere (sorry, can’t find where) is that this device can only have a single controller. So if you have the app connected to it (currently the only way I know of to do anything other than turn it on/off), you can’t also connect it to HA. And switching controllers resets the light. Until more RE has been done to support it more, I don’t think there’s a good solution to this.
I have it, and it works okay now. It’s a bit delayed when responding to commands/automations in HASS and doesn’t have any of the cool presets, but you can leave your favorite preset on and just use the on/off function in HASS.
Yes, you can use it through the apple home kit bridge, or (what I did) was load it into apple home, but instead of continuing with setup in apple home, it appears as a new device in HASS. Just follow the steps on screen.
