Seeking Advice for Upgrading Floor Heating System with Smart Thermostat and External Sensor

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to upgrade my current floor heating system to a smarter solution where the flow temperature is automatically adjusted based on the outside temperature. Currently, my setup only allows for a static setting of the flow temperature, which is not ideal as it doesn’t adapt to varying outdoor conditions.

Attached is a photo of my current setup, which includes a thermostat that regulates the flow temperature for the underfloor heating system.

I am considering installing a smart thermostat to manage the flow temperature. However, most smart thermostats available on the market seem to measure only the air temperature rather than the water flow temperature, which is what I need. I’m interested in a solution that includes an external sensor specifically for the flow temperature of the floor heating.

Additionally, I would prefer a stand-alone solution without the need for Home Assistant or other extensive smart home setups.

Has anyone here faced a similar situation? Are there any smart thermostats or other systems that support external sensors for regulating flow temperatures? I’d appreciate any recommendations or insights into specific components or systems that could work in this context.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Actually you are asking thermostat with two external sensors, one for water and another for outside temp. And standalone without HA…

I personally would keep the existing thermostat, mount beefy servo motor to head of it and control it with Esphome devboard connected to servo and two temp sensors.
No plumbing, no third party cloud, full local control without smart home servers.
