Seeking not-too-smart thermostat

Hello,

Back in 2016 or so I bought a Radiotherm thermostat, and it was nice, but the remote service shut down and I left it at my previous apartment. Can anyone recommend a good relatively inexpensive smart thermostat?

I’d prefer something that doesn’t need a cloud service at all–I’m running everything through Tailscale so don’t really need it. Also, something with physical buttons would be nice. It just needs to be smart enough to connect reliably with HA–I’ll do all my scheduling/programming from Home Assistant, not from the thermostat itself.

Thanks!

I have come to like Homematic IP devices.

The benefit for me is that they can be fully controlled by HA through RaspberryMatic or Debmatic.
They can be programmed on the thermostat themself and from HA those settings can also be retrieved and stored, so you can choose where you want to have your programming controlled from.
The Homematic IP devices can have channels assigned, so a thermostat can be assigned the same channel as a wall thermometer or door/window sensors and the thermostat can then react to those eventhough HA and RaspberryMatic/Debmatic is down.
