Send events between 2 HA installations

Hi,

My partner and I both run separate HA installations in our homes. We’d like to be able to send specific events between the 2 HA installations, not sure the best way.

My partners HA is not exposed to the internet and is behind an nginx proxy (& fail2ban), although it can make calls out to external services.

I was thinking MQTT might be an option, but is this the best way? Is there any other ways??

Thank you.

Webhooks is probably the easiest, but also not so easy.

As Tom_l often says: XY problem - Wikipedia

What are you trying to achieve? Just to be sure that “sendind events” is really what you need…

There’s also remote Home Assistant

    Made me laugh.
I’m a Solution Architect through the day… biggest frustration is usually a lack of detailed requirements.

Anyway, we’d like to propagate presence & device tracker data between the two, including for the dog (who has a Tile on his lead). We each run the companion app and we don’t want to install another tracking app on our phones.

Will take a look a remote home assistant, not seen that before, thanks.

We’re on the same boat, I see

Remote HA is a good solution. It was finicky when I tried it, but it was a long time ago.
I created something similar going through MQTT
