To everyone who installed a Sense monitor, explored their energy data, and made a few smart changes—thank you. You helped build what Sense is today, and you’re helping shape where we’re going next.
Today, we’re sharing an important update and a look at what’s ahead. We’ll stop selling the Sense Monitor by December 31, 2025.
Interesting. To anyone who didn’t read the linked page, apparently Sense is moving from a stand-alone monitor, to being embedded in the meters installed by utilities. Actually a good thing… I think…
My next questions would be, who owns the data? Can I access it locally or do I need a cloud connection? How much will that cost?
Forgive me if my faith in utilities doing what’s best for their customers is a bit shaky.
I think you knew the answer before you asked the question ![]()
There’s no doubt the utility company will own the data that they get from their own meter. Whether homeowners will be able to access it is a different story, but the most we could realistically hope for would be cloud-based access through the utility provider’s website.
Guilty as charged. Sometimes I try too hard to stay optimistic.
I imagine the best we could hope for is real-time access to the data. Which is exactly what we don’t have right now through the utility in my area. I’m not holding out much hope, but I can dream.
