Newly added sensor component in HA 0.33 called api_streams shows zero clients. Not sure whether it should show as connected client when I have two apps called AppDaemon and HADashboard using hapush. Both uses SSEClient so I would think it should show the as connected clients and count should be non-zero.

I am seeing the same issue. There was a short period of time when it showed the number of clients with 33.1. It has not been working since. I am currently running 33.3 updated from 33.2.
It seems to me that I have the same issue.
Adding the logger: component seems to have fixed it.
