I have been monitoring sensor.sun_next_dawn and next_dusk for several weeks now. As you would expect next_dawn changes by a minute or two or three each day. But next_dusk has been stuck at the same time for the entire 3 weeks.
Has anyone else experienced issues with this? Is there a fix? (I haven’t been able to find any indication of this problem anywhere.)
Maybe the Earth is to blame. And rounding. What I mean by this is that we (on the northern hemisphere anyway) are now in the period where dusk barely changes (while dawn still changes). For example at my geographical position the dusk happens in the same minute over the last 6 days.
This is because the dusk already stopped going earlier in time each day and will start going later with each day, even though the overall day length will still be shorter each day - because the dawn is still moving forward nicely each day. In a couple weeks, while dusk will be moving to be later each day, dusk will slow down and stop, then start to move back. So then the day will increase its length from both sides.
Not sure this is what you are observing (3 weeks seems a lot, but then I don’t know how this differs based on your exact geographical position), but well, just consider this.
