Hey, I’m currently running HomeAssistant Core on Docker alongside 15 other Docker containers on a 4GB Pi4. I wouldn’t say I have any performance issues (mainly just if I introduce cameras) but it’s becoming increasingly unreliable recently so looking to move over to something more powerful, ideally so I can setup some VMs and have HomeAssistantOS running on one and my other containers in others.
The problem is I’m not really sure what I’m looking for, I can’t tell you the last time I had to look into things like CPU speeds and generations when purchasing hardware!
I have an SSD so really looking for a small form factor computer that’s low power with around 8GB of RAM and ideally under the £200 mark.
There’s plenty on eBay used but they’re almost all running 4th Gen CPU’s - I don’t know if that’s a bad thing but considering intel are on something like 11th gen now and they’re from 2013 I can’t imagine they’re ideal anymore?
At the moment I’m leaning towards some of these which have more recent-ish gen cpus:
- Lenovo ThinkCentre M710q. Core i3 7th Gen, 8GB RAM. £200
- Dell Optiplex line. Core i5 6th Gen, 8GB RAM. £180-200
Any suggestions / links would be appreciated! Thanks.
