Setting colour with tuya bulbs - what gives?

Hi all,

I’m new here and trying to set up my tuya bulbs. They are showing up and I can turn them on/off and even dim and change the colour temp. But I can’t change the RGB colour. I have a Flux_LED light strip and while this has issues with “not a unique id” stuff it does work fine and can be added into the UI. Out of interest I followed the instructions seen here -

Basically make a group with a working RGB and the bulb having an issue. And just like it said … I get a colour picker and can change colours of both together.

I’m not too sure what it tells me other than the bulbs do seem to be working fine with HA - I just can’t get the gui working.

I am almost thinking of getting a cheap RGB controller of the same tipe and just connecting it as a dummy device. I can them make a group with this controller and a non working bulb. I guess it word work but does not seem too elegant.

Alternatively - if there is no solution to this I am just starting out and only have a couple of bulbs and would not be too upset to basically scrap them and start over. If I was to do this what is the most compatible type of bulb to use with HA?

Thanks for sticking with me for this long post.

I know it’s bad form to answer your own post but I figure if someone is having the same problem they might be glad of the answer.

To be fair credit for this goes to Marcelvandongen. In a post of his on 29th Feb he mentioned adding

light.0420020168c63ab668b4:
supported_features: 63

into the customize.yaml. He had other entries regarding scenes that I was not interested in. Obviously the number after “light.” needs to refer to your light but I put this in … rebooted and BooM!!! Colour picker was available.
