Setting HA IP address using MAC binding on router

Hi,

Please excuse this post if it has been answered before. I have search the forum but can not find any info on this.

I have HA running on a dedicated Mini PC. Currently in the settings it is set to have a static IP address entered in HA and everything works fine.
The issue that I have is as follows:
I am trying to tidy up my network and want to give HA a static address allocated based on its MAC address via the router (as I have done with numerous other devices connected to my network). When I set the IPv4 network interface to be automatic (with or with MAC binding from my router) HA ends up with no IPv4 address at all and I have to manually enter it (using 'network update… ’ on the dedicated PC) to get access to HA again.
The network is hard wired so there are no issues with WiFi being used.
Any pointers that you could give me as to where to look to resolve this would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Graham.

Enable DHCP in HAOS. Shutdown the HAOS system. Add the MAC binding in your router. Switch on the HAOS system. Enjoy.

Hi @os.habitats.tech ,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the confusion, but doesn’t DHCP enable reservations for the HA system not from the router? Or am I missing something?

I also have an issue with HTTPS certificate, which I need to resolved.

Thanks,
Graham.

The DHCP server issues the IP address according to the reservation (router)

The dhcp client accepts the reservation and maintains re-enrollment.

Afterwards deal with the cert.

Your subject or subject alternative name must be resolvable in DNS to the right Ip. That server must have the right name in subject or SAN when it offers the cert for cell check. The CRL must be resolvablenin DNS and your client must trust the cert chain. (root cert)
