Ryan , Much simpler and safer to call me ether Pooya or Ryan instead of my full name

So you have room for a 3d printer, but not a small form factor PC or an ethernet cable in your apartment…

These are all questions you can answer your self by doing some research rather than asking to be spoon-fed.

right, but to be honest with you research on AI ie ChatGPT etc is not as acurate as Costumers or Users experiences , I mean the Data in web is not reliable unless comes from experience expert in any fields.

So don’t use AI. Use google and youtube search.

Also using LLMs to post these sorts of wall of text questionnaires is frowned upon here.

Sir, To be honest with you I don’t even have much space in my Appartment for 3d printers. so as you got the point I am looking for mini 3d printer or smallest one, Thanks for taking time and responding,

I got the point that you know how to write a lot of gobbledygook with the help of an AI, Sorry, but I didn’t really read it.

I’d suggest the Bambu Lab A1 mini if size is a real concern, otherwise the Bambu Lab A1. I am a beginner with 3d printing and have achieved great results.

There is a good integration available in HACS for Bambu Lab printers.

So what’s wrong about to ask about 3D Printers from users here? which Users share about their 3D Printers experiences?
Pooya

It is lazy.

You have just spewed out a large list of questions from an LLM without putting in any effort yourself to research the topic.

Why should we do your work for you?

You could find the answer to any of the questions with a basic Google search, e.g.

Ryan, a tiny bit of friendly advice.

And I’m saying this to you and all new users of the forum.

A tiny TINY bit of effort goes a long way. There are literally hundreds of folks who are here and willing to share thier knowledge. You are correct there. And remember all of them spent a long time and hard work acquiring that knowledge. So realize to them it’s very valuable and worthwhile.

When a new eager user comes on and asks a thousand questions without even (appearing to - and I do not know your situation so that Is totally an assumption on my part) researching?

(thats how blind questions appear to experienced users)

To add insult to injury there is a pinned posted article about asking questions to the forum based on chatgpt queries (short version that also appears to be ignored, but the post says don’t do it)

So now it appears not researched and kinda in violation of the spirit of our forum rules and then it happens a lot at once? Yeah

I know it’s not meant that way. It’s just eagerness to get started. But it really really REALLY irritates the senior users and makes them want to not help.

Instead imagine a situation where someone comes in and says something to the effect of…

Hey team I am looking at 3d printing. I’ve researched and narrowed my choices down to X and Y. And I’ve looked at what they both seem to offer for HA integration. Can someone compare and contrast these two so I can finalize the decision?

This is an entirely different question and I guarantee someone would pick it up and answer quickly…

So for each of these (I stopped reading the posts myself after the second one. Btw) take a good look at the post with this in mind - I think you’ll see the frustration.

And the rest of us. - don’t make me email Missy.

no offence but honestly Again Wrong Judgment and at least a mistake, LLM can not make contents without any LLM’s Users effort. Bye for now! cheers!

No offence taken. Goodbye.

The answers to the questions you ask are dependent on many things. In order to get expert advice that is relevant to your use case, you will need to tell more about what you want from your 3D printer and what kind of experience you have. Things that might be useful to elaborate on to elicit good responses from experienced users with similar needs could be:

1. Experience Level

  • Have you used a 3D printer or Home Assistant before? Understanding your prior experience will help tailor recommendations to your expertise level.

2. Budget

  • What’s your budget for both the 3D printer and any additional equipment or materials? This will help in recommending models and supplies that fit within your price range.

3. Purpose/Use Case

  • What do you plan to use the 3D printer for? Are you using it for hobbyist projects, professional use, or learning? This will influence the type of printer, filament, and software you should consider.

4. Space Considerations

  • Where do you plan to set up the 3D printer? Knowing if the printer will be in a small or enclosed space where you work or live can help in determining whether an enclosure is needed and if noise, heat, or ventilation will be a concern. Available dimensions of the workspace will also affect choice of enclusure.

5. Technical Expertise

  • What’s your technical background, especially with Home Assistant, Raspberry Pi, or general IT setup? This will influence the complexity of 3D printer integration and help tailor advice about OS, configuration, and integration steps.

6. PC and Equipment Details

  • What is the current specification of your PC or device that will be running Home Assistant? We’d need to know your CPU, RAM, and storage capabilities to recommend the right setup and whether an upgrade is required.

7. Filament and Print Materials

  • Do you have any preferences or limitations regarding filament types (e.g., PLA, ABS, PETG)? Knowing this can help advise you on filament choices based on safety, ease of use, and project type.

8. Safety Considerations

  • Do you have concerns about safety, such as fumes, noise, or heat management? This would affect advice about printer placement, filament types, enclosures, and ventilation needs.

9. Community and Support Preferences

  • Are you already part of any 3D printing or Home Assistant communities? This will help in recommending specific forums or groups for support, especially if you prefer certain platforms or communication styles.

10. Customization and Automation Goals

  • What kind of automations or integrations are you hoping to achieve with Home Assistant and the 3D printer? This could help guide advice on specific 3D printer models, software, and add-ons that are more flexible for automation.

Perfect. Thank You. I will let you know after making more research in order to give you accurate response.
All The Best,
Warmest regards,
Sincerely,
Pooya (Ryan)

And it’s especially a strange post since 90%+ of what you are asking is about 3D printing itself and has nothing to do with HA at all.

it would have been more reasonable to ask the simple question…

“I’m thinking of getting into 3D printing and researching my options but before I decide is there anything I need to keep in mind where a good HA integration is involved?”

all of the other stuff you asked should be directed to a forum for 3D printing not a HA forum.

Regarding the below, YouTube is your friend. I suggest Makers Muse but there are lots of good options. PC OS doesn’t matter. There is a HACs Bambu integration and Moonraker which works with a specific firmware, can’t think of the name right now. It’s not Marlin. CAD software and Slicing software (pretty much required for 3D printing) is much different. One does not simply learn CAD overnight. Don’t reinvent the wheel if you don’t have to Lots of.free models out there on Printables and other sites for free.

Think of 3D printers by firmware, not OS. Most are open source but not all are. There is really only 3 or 4 options. All have their strengths and weaknesses and research will tell you what’s best for your personal needs.

Software and Integration Questions

3D Printer OS: Is there a specific 3D printer OS that integrates well with Home Assistant? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to using a particular OS?
Design Software: What are some popular and user-friendly 3D design software options that can be used to create models for printing? Are there any specific recommendations for beginners?
Home Assistant Integration: How can I integrate my 3D printer with Home Assistant? What are the benefits of doing so? Can I control the printer, monitor its status, and receive notifications directly through Home Assistant?
