Setting up a HA without any cloud based integrations

Hi folks,

I’ve had trouble finding reliable answers to this online but I’m basically trying to set up HA in a place where the internet is very spotty and not reliable so I want to keep things completely on the local network.

I can’t find reliable information on which devices I can/cannot buy. Do hue bulbs require external connections? Do aqara relays? Xiaomi devices? Tuya devices? Etc etc.

Is there a list or similar I can reference to get these answers?

The main things I need are IP cameras, in-wall relays, sockets and sensors (door sensors and temperature/weather sensors).

My second task will then be finding these devices in 220V since the country in question has 220V mains but that I’ll deal with later.

Thanks!

All ZigBee and zwave devices should work locally, you need a coordinator/hub to connect these devices.

Tuya wifi devices are cloud based until you can flash them with esphome/tasmota which is a hassle itself.

If you look at integrations, they all show an IoT device class :

You want the one’s with Local Push and/or Local Poll

Cameras: Look for support for ONVIF or RTSP
Relays, sockets, sensors: Zigbee or Z-Wave (avoid WiFi unless it can run ESPHome or Tasmota)

220V is easy - most of the world uses 230V +/- 6%

A little thing to remember.
Raspis have no hardware realtime clocks, so you need a hardware add-on with such one.
You could go with an old laptop instead.
