Setting Up ADS-B Antenna on Home Assistant Green: Help Needed

I’m working on setting up an ADS-B antenna with my Home Assistant Green to create a robust flight tracking dashboard and feed data back to FlightRadar24. Has anyone successfully done this?

Here’s my setup:

  • I recently purchased the DSBexchange.com Blue R820T2 RTL2832U, 0.5 PPM TCXO ADS-B SDR w/Amp and 1090 MHz Filter, Antenna & Software on Industrial MicroSD from Amazon.
  • My goal is to integrate this hardware with Home Assistant Green (Home Assistant Green - Home Assistant).

Challenges:

  • The Home Assistant Green doesn’t have a microSD card slot to directly use the software that came with the kit.
  • I’m unsure how to transfer the software or configure the device for compatibility with Home Assistant.

Questions for the Community:

  1. Has anyone successfully set up an ADS-B antenna with Home Assistant Green?
  2. Are there alternative methods to access the software on the microSD card (e.g., transferring to USB)?
  3. Any specific recommendations or tips for configuring the SDR hardware with Home Assistant to track flights?

I’d appreciate any guidance, examples, or documentation that might help. I’m excited to see how this can expand Home Assistant’s functionality for flight tracking!

Hi, I am not (!) the specialist but have acquired a similar thing for which I have installed a set of docker containers to make it work, which was neither simple nor complex but I am not sure if you can install ‘docker’ on a green. Maybe search for some add-on?

Please note that there exists a ready-made integration for FR whcih does not need the antenna, not sure if that is sufficient for you. I myself am using ADSB.lol for which I created an integration (access to adsb.lol data is also free for now)

Appreciate the reply. I’m not sure if I can run docker on a green either. Will look in to it.

Per the integration, I have it installed. I want to feed back and get the free subscription benefits.

From the description of FR24 you donot need to feed back and my integration is free for now as well, I myself am feeding back but that is because of other reasons.
Installing any non-HA software on Green may prove a challenge as I suspect the OS is slimmed down
