Hi,
I’m utterly confused by the setup of my brandnew Conbee 2 device. I have studied the deConz integration’s documentation, but don’t get how to configure the integration.
I have HA Core running on a TrueNAS jail (installed via the TrueNAS HA plugin), and I have inserted the Conbee 2 into one of my server’s USB ports. My configuration.yaml
contains an (empty) discovery:
entry.
When I try to add the deConz integration, I enter the IP of my jail (and leave the port as 80). When I then click on Submit at the Link with deCONZ window, I get an “Couldn’t get an API key” error message. Thus, I probably have to Authenticate App via the Phoscon web app. But how?
Out of curiosity, I installed deConz on my Windows laptop, clicked the Authenticate App option and then tried to Submit again - same result (which was expected, I must admit).
But here I’m lost: It looks like to install the deConz integration, I need to have deConz running on that machine already. What am I missing here? Does anybody have Conbee 2 running on her TrueNAS/HA Core instance?
Thanks in advance
Christian
Did you install the deconz docker container and mounted the USB stick to the deconz container?
If dou have, you should be able to access the Phoscon interface.
I only now realize that deConz and the deConz integration are two different things - probably not the smartest question I’ve ever asked
However, it looks like to be able to run docker images, I need to run a VM with Ubuntu on my TrueNAS server, which seems like A LOT overhead just for being able to access a couple of Zigbee plugs. Is there any alternative to that approach you are aware of by any chance?
Oh my bad, didn’t see that you run Home Assistant Core. Not familiar with True NAS, xan you install packages via APT, take a look here.
I think that I’ve come to the conclusion that this is not worth the work, I must admit… I will today receive a Shelly Plug S, which as far as I understood should work right out of the box (and even provides energy measurement). It’s more expensive that the plugs that I wanted to use, but I guess my time is worth that extra money
Thanks for trying to help, though!
Ok… whatever floats your boat. Last time I did this it took me like 10 mins max. and the ConBee offers you the whole world of ZigBee with countless of cheap devices, e.g. I got 15 door/window sensors for less than 100 bucks and they work a treat.
That was in fact my initial idea (get ZigBee running once and then have the option to add these kind of devices)… Maybe later
