I have a simple HA installation in the clubhouse at our sportsmen’s club. I have a few zigbee temperature and water leak sensors. I have the Sonoff zigbee 3.0 USB dongle plus V2 and it works to communicate with those devices. I have some automations to send an email if an issue is detected from one of the zigbee sensors.
I want to add some Heiman Matter Smoke Detectors. These are my first Matter devices I have tried to connect to HA. I purchased a Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2. HA detected the device and I chose the option to install it as a thread adapter setup was successful without any issues. OT Open Thread Border Router was installed and it has the ZBT-2 listed as a service so that looks good. Thead is installed and it sees the HA Open Thread Border Router. I sent the credentials to my iPhone. That completed with no issues. My iphone and HA are on the same WiFi network. Matter and Matter Service is installed. When I click the Add device button, select “My device is brand new” and scan the QR code it tried to pair the smoke detector but fails.
What an I missing? Since these are my first Matter devices, I don’t know which piece of this process is the issue. Any help in trouble shooting would be appreciated. Below is a link to some screen shots of what I’m seeing on my end.
