Hi All,
First of all i have searched and searched for a solution to this. More than happy to be directed to the right spot.
I have just moved over to Home Assistant from OpenHab 2.5. I really liked openhab, but for now it’s just a little too complex, and there seems to be lots of confusion between the textual config and paper UI. Also many things i’ve spent hours and hours on, but not been able to get working. So far Home Assistant has been a painless experience. Especially the way it just discovers everything, but like everything theres lots of learning.
What am i trying to do?
Get MQTT working so i can control some RGB Strips that i have flashed with Tasmota. Also need to get a good dashboard configured, but thats another topic. I’ve found that there seems to be different versions of Home Assistant and the MQTT add on floating around.
My Configuration
Raspberyr Pi 3B+
HassOS 4.11
Core 0.112.4
Steps So Far
- Install Mosquitto Add-On via Supervisor and restart
- Connect to Mosquitto using MQTT.fx
- I couldn’t get it to connect
- Added
mqtt:
broker: 172.17.0.1
to Configuration.yaml
4. I can now connect and get the green indicator light
5. Subscribe to #
- Nothing, the box stays greyed out.
I can connect to my old broker on OpenHab fine, and publish to and subscribe to topics.
Any ideas? I’m missing something i know. Just what…
