Setting up Thorbolt MK1 Doorknob with SLZB Ultima?

I looked at this post where users got the Thorbolt X1 working with home assistant. Like the X1, the Thorbolt MK1 supports thread and homekit only. I tried following this part in the docs to connect a homekit device via thread, I can see the device in the list of discover bluetooth device under Integrations > Bluetooth > advertisements. When I try to add a homekit device and select a bridge and enter in the pairing code, I immediately get an error “Incorrect HomeKit code. Please check it and try again.”

I’m not sure how to setup the Homekit Bridge integration since I couldn’t find detail steps to set it up from scratch (I don’t find the HA documentation very helpful). I have an SLZB Ultima which supports thread and acting as an OpenThread Border Router.

I finally figured this out with a lot of help in the Home Assistant Discord server. I was running Home Assistant in Orbstack (an alternative to the official docker app on macOS to run docker containers faster), however Orbstack has networking issues. I moved HA to my linux (NixOS) desktop and it was actually quite easy with compose2nix, so now HA starts up with my desktop using systemd. On the desktop, I allowed UDP port 5353 for mDNs, TCP port 8213 for HA, and the TCP port ranges 21000 to 21000 for homekit devices & integrations. After doing all of that, my homekit device: the Thorbolt MK1 was automatically discovered by HA.
