I just started up Hass.io on a pi (3 B+) and am trying to setup the wifi. For some reason, when I put the SD card in my mac, it gives this error: “The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.” It works fine in my pi though. Is there a way to setup wifi/static IP from the UI or from SSHing into the pi? I currently have it plugged in via ethernet, but would much rather use wifi. Thanks,
I don’t know your router type but there is where I would concentrate. You cannot set a static IP on the PI/hass.io itself but you can, if you can get hold of the MAC address of your PI, go to your router and reserve an IP address linked to that MAC address.
Hey Albert. I get same on Windows 10 when I plug SD card in… saying it can’t read it and recommends formatting the SD to fix it. I just close the pop-ups and continue on with balenaEcher, which completes just fine. The fixed IP is set through your router login options. Once done, the router always issues same IP to the PI. I have not had luck setting up WiFi on my PI 3B+ yet.
I thing the reason why you cant read from the sdcard is the filesystem on the sdcard. I think it is formatted to ext4 of some other linux filesystem.
On windows maybe one of this works:
On Mac maybe:
Note: I don’t know if it is ext4, I assume. I might also be btrfs. Mybe do a little more research it what it actually is before investing time in getting it to run.
