I have noticed some shading that is on the history of some sensors and I have tried lkooking every where to explain what it is telling me. See the image below. On the info Tab of the sensor I see the line showing the reading but then there is the light blue shading both above and below the line. What is that information that it is trying to show me?
The 5 minute minimum and maximum. The solid line is the 5 minute mean. Hover you mouse over the different parts of the graph (shading and line) and you should see a tool tip pop up showing this.
This was changed in 2022.12 and made a lot of people upset at the loss of resolution. It was supposed to make loading of graphs faster but in practice has had little to no effect. The only way to see the full resolution now is to click the “Show more” link above the right hand side of the graph that takes you to the history panel.
This type of graph only occurs for sensors with a state_class of measurement
. To revert it you can use customize to set the state_class to none
for each sensor.
Thank you for the quick reply. I just tried the mouse over again. When I do mouse over the line I do see a mean but have not seen the min max when I hover over the shaded area. Only time I see min and max was when I hoved over a spot there the min,max and mean where all the same. No big deal to me now that I know what it means. Thanks again for the answer…It has been driving me a little crazy trying to find an image in the documentation that explained it or my doing a google search.
That’s odd. What web browser are you using?
This is what I see in Firefox:
I use Chrome, but I may have figured that out now too. When I have a large shaded area which is rare, then I just have to search along the line of the shaded area to see the min or max. Just hovering over the shaded area in general is when nothing shows.
