I bought a Shelly blu window sensor for the mailbox and it only seems to trigger when I open the mailbox. The mailman has never triggered it. I am assuming he’s just so quick the sleeping Shelly does not have enough time to wake up and respond but that doesn’t entirely make sense to me.
Is there a wake up delay with these?
You can try that.
I would expect there is tiny delay in millisecond range to eliminate false triggers, but way smaller than what open/close needs.
Some type of boxes allow letters to be pushed in with minimum opening which could easily cause this behavior.
this is a plain plastic mailbox. no slot, just a tube with a hinged door on the front. open door, put in mail, close door.
It detects me opening and closing just fine, but never the letter carriers.
You can try updating to 1.0.23-hotfix1

I played with the app today but can’t find a firmware update function.
you have to pair your BT device in the app and can then select “OTA” (and other settings)
yep the fixed it. it took a few tries to coerce it into accepting the update but it DID fix this issue and it works brilliantly. I’m super happy with my nice little mailbox. thanks
you can “Mark as solution” then (click the three dots)
I don’t have that option. I just turns into a wrench and says “make wiki”
